Welcome on the Website of the Underwater observers network (ROSM)

The ROSM is a non-profit organization dedicated to help protecting our aquatic environments.

In order to reach this goal, the ROSM is currently working on a geo referenced census of aquatic species living in our water

This essential knowledge needed to protect our aquatic environments is unfortunately generally lacking and your help is needed to gather this precious information. We need you to let us know which aquatic species you observe while doing your outdoor activities, and not only the special ones but also the common ones, those that you see day after day. This information is needed because to detect changes we need baseline data. And if the only observations which are noted are the more attractive species, we might not be able to detect changes, and consequently act in time.

Furthermore, your contribution not only will help us to better know about the geographical distribution of our aquatic species but it will also allow those doing outdoor activities to know about the species they might see in sites they may not know. So we are inviting you to join the ROSM and share your observations.

ONCE REGISTERED, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

  • Add your own observations, including photos if you wish.
  • Be informed when a new observation is added for any specie which interests you.
  • Participate in newsgroups.
  • Exchange with other members.
  • Personalize your user's page.
  • Visit the personal pages of the other members.

If you have photos which you would like to share, particularly for species for which we still have no descriptive page, you can submit them via this form so that we keep on building the species’ bank allowing members to report their sightseeing. And of course, credits of your photos are given as your ownership. Enjoy your visit!

This site benefits from the participation of 456 members. Together, they registered 14168 observations.

Our observer of the month is aquabon with 4 observations ! Congrats aquabon !

You will find information for 348 species on this Web site.

Record visits for the Underwater Observers Network
During the month of November, the Underwater Observers Network had more visits than ever before.

6672 visits, nearly 75,000 page views and well beyond half a million hits! Visitors from 95 different countries!

Not only was there a lot of visitors, but what is really fantastic, is participation! The visitors returned an average of 1.56 times. They visited an average of 11.23 pages and about 80 clicks per visit! And this does not include traffic from search engines!

Another interesting statistic, forty members of the Underwater Observers Network were authenticated during this month.
